I have not been able to update this blog as frequently as I planned, for I have been occupied for the last couple of months completing my interviews and court visits for the purpose of my PhD research. Thankfully, the process is now coming to an end, and now nearing the finalisation of the transcription process. What follows next would be the primary data analysis, which I plan to adopt the use of ATLAS.ti qualitative data analysis software version 6.2.

Being at this stage, I am glad to share this link to Atlas Malaysia blog – Atlas.ti trainings in Malaysia which is also maintained by me and another research partner.

After months into the research, today I am officially elevated to the full PhD candidature: I successfully convinced the postgraduate committee assessors at the Faculty of Law that my research proposal of Courtroom Technology is doable, viable and justified to be carried on – Alhamdulillah… I definitely express my gratitude to my supervisors – Associate Professor Dr. Zaiton and Dr. Bahrin for their continuous support and guidance. I could not be here today if it’s not for you two. I also thank Kak Fizah and Kak Tini for their neverending moral support. Love u guys… Thank you šŸ™‚

BTW, happy birthday, Kak Fizah…

Today there was a Special Session with the newly appointed Adjunct Professor of Law Faculty, UiTM Shah Alam, the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Malaysia, YAA Tun Dato’ Seri Prof. Zaki Bin Tun Azmi. the session was held at the Auditorium, Chempaka Building. The speech by YAA Tun really touched my heart, especially the part where there are opportunities lying ahead, just waiting to be grabbed. There are no such things as special treatments as claimed by others e.g. the law provides for allocated scholarship for bumiputras to further their studies, but the law does not guarantee their success. It all depends in the effort put in by the students, and opportunities lying ahead of them waiting to be grabbed.

I do not know YAA Tun personally, but that day, I felt as if I know this special person – YAA Tun is a simple man, approachable and His Lordship’s words are full of wisdom. It was indeed a great opportunity to meet this special person…

My supervisors ask me to attend one talk on legal professional ethics and mobile court today. The talk is held at the auditorium, Chempaka building, Law Faculty from 2.30 pm until 4.00 pm.

According to YAA, currently, the public perception to the legal profession is on the negative side. Hence, in order to regain the respect of the public, YAA suggests that the legal profession should … Click here to read more

Today the Law Faculty, UiTM Shah Alam organised its 1st Law Postgraduate Colloquium. And I happen to be one of the presenters during the colloquium, together with another 7 colleagues, 3 at the PhD level and 4 at the Masters level.

The event is held at the auditorium, Chempaka building, Law Faculty from 9 am to 1.30 pm. It is smooth sailing, and the assessors are critical and helpful in asking questions and assessing the presentation of the researchers.

I am glad to be able to present my PhD research progress report for the first time since I registered, and I have obtained fruitful input from the assessors for my research on application of ICT in the courtrooms. On this note, I also believe the other researchers are also appreciative of the input by the assessors.
